Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister’s Cup : Inter Basic Education Schools Football Tournament

The opening ceremony of Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister’s Cup Inter Basic Education Schools (Men/Women) Football Tournament was held at Shwe Wei Thiri Sports Ground in Dawei on 8th August.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister highlighted the purpose of the tournament which is to strengthen friendly relations among students and to select excellent football players for the Dawei League Football Tournament that is scheduled to be hel.

Underscoring the vital role of sports in nation’s health sector, the Chief Minister encouraged the players to become qualified and professional athletes who can uplift the prestige of the region and nation. Then, the Chief Minister provided 3 million kyats cash assistance for the participating schools.

Then, the Chief Minister and party enjoyed the match between No.8 Basic Education High School and No.4 Basic Education High School where the No.8 BEHS Team won with the score of 3-1. The tournament will be held through August 29th with the participation of 15 Men and 5 Women Teams from 15 Basic Education Schools.
