Türkiye-Somali Presidents meet

Turkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with his Somali counterpart, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, in Istanbul. Following the one-on-one meeting and the interdelegation talks at Dolmabahçe, the two leaders are expected to hold a joint press conference.

The high-level meeting takes place in the wake of Israel’s controversial decision to recognize the independence of the Somaliland region.  The agenda includes bilateral relations between Türkiye and Somalia, with a focus on steps to further deepen cooperation.
