The head of a group leading Syria's interim government has stressed his intention to build an inclusive society, including ethnic minority Kurdish people.
Abu Mohammed al-Golani, the leader of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham rebel group which is also known as the HTS, said on social media that Syrians will live together with each of them exercising their rights under the law.
He went on to say that Kurdish people will no longer be treated unfairly. Golani's remarks apparently show his group's conciliatory stance toward the international community.
On Saturday, diplomats from Arab nations, Türkiye, the United States and other countries gathered to discuss the situation in Syria.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the participants agreed to call on Syria's new government to respect the rights of minorities. On the same day, Golani stressed that Syria has no intention of fighting Israel.
