Swiss glaciers melting faster

A new report of the Swiss Academy of Natural Sciences stated that the Swiss glaciers have lost 10 % during the past two years. One extreme year follows another, even glaciologists are surprised by these figures.

At this rate, Swiss glaciers will have disappeared completely by the end of the century. This is the 2nd biggest decline since measurements began. But there is still a glimmer of hope, a drastic reduction in greenhouse gas emissions on a global scale could save 1 in 4 glaciers. An issue that will be at the heart of discussions at the next COP28 in December.
