SUV driver hits crowd at Texas near border; 7 dead

An SUV slammed into a crowd Sunday, killing at least seven people and injuring at least 10 who were waiting at a bus stop outside a migrant shelter in the border city of Brownsville, Texas, police said.

The crash happened about 8:30 a.m. and police did not know whether the driver intentionally hit people. The driver was taken to the hospital for injuries sustained when the car rolled over.

There were no passengers in the car and police didn't immediately know the drivers' name or age.Police also retrieved a blood sample and sent it to a Texas Department of Public Safety lab to test for intoxicants.Brownsville has long been an epicenter for migration across the U.S.-Mexico border.
