Jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and Ayeyawaddy Region Government, the launching ceremony of Sustainable Education Programmein 5 Townships within Ayeyawaddy Region was held atPathein City Hall with the attendance of Union Minister Dr. NyuntPe, Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win and many other concerned officials on 9th October.
In his opening remarks, the Union Minister outlined the high illiteracy rate of the nation saying that it’s one of the biggest challenges encountered in promotion of law enforcement across the nation as well as safeguarding regional peace and stability.
He added that the relevant ministries and governments are making concerted efforts to increase basic literacy rate and to conduct continuing education activities under the guidance of the Prime Minister. The Union Minister also urged the relevant individuals to strive fror systematic continuing education campaigns in line with the programme.
Then, the Chief Minister in his capacity as chairman of the Region Continuing Education Supervisory Committe said that basic literarcy activities were already carried out for 2 times within the region and plans are underway to conduct necessary trainings for the instructors.
He also called for the systematic supervision and management of the programme. Then, the Union Minister provided teaching aids for the programme and presented honorary cash awards to the teachers. On the same day, the Union Minister inspected No.10 Basic Education High School.
On arrival at Pathein University, the Union Minister inspected the Department of Bioresources and Biotechnology Development and instructed on effective biotechnology researches, systematic utilization of research equipment as well as to strive to become a research-intensive university.
Then, the Union Minister attended the qualification testing ceremony of the contestants of 25th Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition. Additionally, the Union Minister inspected Pathein Education Degree College, Ayeyawaddy Region Education Officer Office as well as Payoneseik Village Basic Education Middle School and Mezali Village Basic Eucation High School in Nyaungdon Township.
