Sustainable Education Program: Successful completion at three townships in Shan State (South)

Jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and Shan State Government, a ceremony to honor the implementation of 2024 Sustainable Education Program (Reading Habit Promotion Program) in Taunggyi, Kalaw and HoPong Townships in Shan State (South), was held at the No.1 Basic Education High School in Taunggyi Township on Wednesday.

At the ceremony, Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung stressed the pivotal role of human resource development in nation’s education sector. In implementing the comprehensive education system, out-of-school education system is necessary to help those who couldn’t complete their basic education due to various circumstances.

By joining the reading habit promotion programs, the nationals will gradually become the qualified citizens who can contribute to the interest of their respective regions.  He also called for the concerted efforts of the respective working committees to fulfill the requirements in conducting sustainable education activities.

Then, the secretary of the sustainable education program central supervisory committee clarified the priorities of the committee. He highlighted that the sustainable education program in 3 townships of Shan State (South) was completed in February 2024 and plans are underway to continue the program in 4 townships of Shan State (East), 5 townships of Ayeyawaddy Region, as well as in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area.

In April 2024, the literacy activities will be carried out in designated areas with the collaboration of the respective district, region and state governments.  Then, the Chief Minister and State Advocate General presented honorary certificates to Shan State Education Officer’s office, Pa-O Self-Administered Zone Administration Body and General Administration Departments of Taunggyi and Kalaw Districts, Taunggyi, Kalaw and Hopong Townships and representatives who actively participated in Shan State (South) sustainable education program. Then, the Chief Minister and party cordially greeted the township instructors and in-charges of the program.
