Surinamese president arrives in Beijing

Surinamese President Santokhi arrived in Beijing on Thursday for a week-long state visit to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

Upon arrival, the Surinamese president said he has high expectations for his China trip. Suriname is one of the earliest Caribbean countries to establish diplomatic ties with China. It signed a memorandum of understanding with China to jointly build the Belt and Road in 2018.
