




On 11th October, Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung and Nay Pyi Taw council chairman U Than Tun Oo accompanied by deputy ministers and departmental officials inspected the monsoon rice cultivation in 21-acre farmlands near Sein Sar Pin village of Zeyathiri Township.
During the inspection, Union Minister urged farmers to cooperate with department to face the natural disasters due to the climate change. The ministry provides free assistance to replant the short-term rice in the 21 acres of farmlands using planting machines with the aims to ensure the food security of the region and socio development of local farmers.
He also urged farmers to make efforts for the thriving of plantations. The Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council said that the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation is working to identify systematic farmland near Pin Laung Road for the development of the region's agricultural sector.
He added that there will be able to implement a mechanized farming system that includes water drains and allow easy entry and exit of farm equipment. He also urged farmers to work hard for regional development. During the meeting, director generals of the relevant departments discussed the ways of plant care activities, irrigation system and use of agricultural water as well as rights and ownership knowledge of farmland.
The Departments under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation are providing assistance in order not to decline the crops production due to the heavy rains and floods in Nay Pyi Taw council area during the second week of September, and to ensure that the damaged crops can be planted in timely manner.
It has been reported that the needs of farmers who want to grow other crops, including free access to rice seeds, are being assisted.
