Sunak visits US, says priority is to keep UK safe

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak arrived in San Diego to meet with U.S. President Joe Biden and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. He is expected to announce a major defence deal amid growing concerns about China’s influence in the Indo-Pacific region. Sunak said Sunday that his government will increase military and defence spending significantly.

The PM said the UK will invest $6 billion in the armed forces over two years and increase defence spending to 2.5% of GDP.Silicon Valley Bank was the second-largest U.S. bank failure, behind the 2008 failure of Washington Mutual.
