Summer sports trainings: Tanintharyi Region CM attended the opening ceremony

The opening ceremony of the summer sports training courses, jointly organized by the Tanintharyi Region Youth Affairs Committee, the Department of Sports and Physical Education, and the Department of Education, was held at the Shwe Wei Thiri Stadium in Dawei on March 3.

During the ceremony, the Chief Minister of Tanintharyi Region, U Myat Ko, stated that efforts are being made to promote national health and physical fitness through sports and physical education. He emphasized that sports activities are being carried out in line with the sports and physical education policies set by the state, transforming them into a nationwide public movement. He further noted that the objectives of these sports training courses include encouraging individuals to pursue their preferred sports to elevate the standard of national sports, as well as fostering the emergence of a new generation of athletes through summer training programs.

Following the speech, the trainees recited the four-point sports oath and dispersed from the venue. The Chief Minister, the Chief Justice of the Region High Court, region ministers, officials, and sports enthusiasts observed demonstrations of Myanmar traditional martial arts (Thaing), judo, taekwondo, and aerobics performed by various groups.

The summer sports training courses will offer programs in football, volleyball, badminton, karate, judo, basketball, Myanmar traditional martial arts, table tennis, boxing, tennis, sepak takraw, taekwondo, aerobics, and drum and bugle. These courses will run until March 24, with a total of 763 trainees reportedly participating.
