Summer Sports Training: Basic Course Kicked Off On Friday

Students who love doing sports can enroll and enjoy their passionate sports during the summer holidays at the Summer Sports Training Course starting today.

2019 Summer Sports Training Course (Basic/ Advance) kicked off in Yangon on Friday by Sports and Physical Education Department under the Ministry of the Health and Sports. The course aims to spend holidays effectively, to promote students’ participation in sports activities, to turn out new young athletes and to improve physical skills at different sports.

The government is also implementing for promoting sport standard of the country by laying down 4 policies which are mass sports, excellent sports, participation in Southeast Asian Games as well as reaching World Level games through Asia level.

Director General, Sports and Physical Education Department, Myo Hlaing said “Mostly young people are active their time using smart phone and playing games. By doing sport activities, it will improve physical and mental abilities and to turn out new young athletes. Sport activities are not just for normal people and it also inclusive for disabled persons. This summer course also aims to encourage the participation of disable person in sports activities. Through this summer sport course, we will promote the people involvement in sports activities.”

As a special of this year, the summer course features 35 kinds of sports including disabled sports, Sepak Takraw, volleyball, football, Myanmar martial arts, Karate and Wushu. Myanmar Women Sports Federation also participated in summer sports training course by providing Aerobic course for the students.

Chairperson,  Myanmar Women Sports Federation, Khin Lay said “As Myanmar Women Sports Federation, we will be opened Aerobic course for the students. Nowadays, students are busy even their spare time by doing lessons and homework.  It would be better for the students if the schools have such kind of sport activities since early. So this summer sports training course will be effective for students who want to spend their time enjoying their passionate sports during summer.”

Basic courses will be opened on 1st March and run until 29th March while the advanced courses will be opened on 22nd April and run until to 17th May at the institute of Sports and Physical Education in Yangon. The Ministry also plans to organize the similar activity in the remaining regions and states.
