Summer basic swimming course: Union Minister attends closing ceremony

With the aim to emerge new generation swimming athletes, the closing ceremony of summer basic swimming course (1/2023) was held at WunnaTheikdhi swimming pool in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.

At the event, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan said that the training was opened with the aim of turning out new generation swimming athletes who are outstanding in swimming sport and having good stamina in case of an emergency.

The Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs is opening summer basis sports trainings in cooperation with Myanmar Sports Federation and the Sports and Physical Education Committee in respective regions and states.

The Union Minister called for the trainees to continue to study advanced sports subjects based on techniques and skills learned from the training and to be good swimming athletes who can promote prestige of the nation by wining prizes in the international sports events.

It was followed by prize awarding ceremony where Union Minister U Min Thein Zan and deputy Ministers presented prizes to the winners in respective swimming contests. The summer basic swimming course (1/2023) was opened from 27th February to 17th March and conducted to 113 trainees.

Later, the Union Minister looked into practicing of SepakTakraw, Wushu, Vovinam, traditional Chine Lone (Cane ball) and volley ball athletes who are camping in Nay Pyi Taw to participate in the 32nd SEA Games, mess hall and sports medical sections and gave necessary instructions.
