Sumatra landslides and flood death toll

The Indonesian National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported the latest developments on the floods and landslides affecting several regions in North Sumatra, the most severely impacted province since the disaster struck on November 25.

As of Friday a total of 116 people have been confirmed dead and 42 remain missing, with numbers expected to rise as some affected areas are still inaccessible. Fatalities are spread across multiple regions, Joint SAR teams from BNPB, the military, police and volunteers continue evacuation, victim searches, and damage assessment amid difficult terrain and unstable weather conditions.

In West Sumatra the death toll from the floods and landslides has risen to 23, with 12 people still missing and 4 injured. Around 3,900 households have been affected.
