Sugarcane production: MOALI UM inspects sugarcane cultivations in NPT

The Sugarcane Technical Training conducted with the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund 2022 is opened at the Sugarcane Research and Development Farm in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday.

At the opening ceremony, the Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung said that the ministry is putting efforts into increasing the per acre yield and  providing good quality seeds and technologies for the farmers forwarding the sustainability of Myanmar Sugarcaen Industry.

Farmers are required to try to achieve the increase sugarcane yield of over 400,000 acres nationwide and high sugar production. He also called farmers the collaborative efforts into implementing Contract Farming system with Standard Operating Procedures and departments’ work procedures including educative campaigns. 

Next, the director general of Agriculture Department Dr. Ye Tint Tun explained about the training. After that, the Union Minister and party observed the sugarcane plantations where the original variety are being preserved, sugarcane variety dissemination with tissue culture system and the plantation with sugarcane planter. At present, 60 trainees are joining the training and the demonstration of high yiedling techniques and use of sugarcane planters for 3 days and knowledge exchange programs are going to be conducted.

The union minister and party then proceeded to harvesting sugarcane in Pyimana township and cordially discussed the necessary matters with the farmers. From there, the union minister and party oversaw the work processes of sugarcane purchasing and sugar production of Pyinmana Sugar Factory and discussed about the fully operation of the factory with collaborative  efforts and publice sector investments with the concerned officials.
