Residents of the eastern Sudanese town of Gedaref queue to fill up on water as the city suffers from severe shortages due to constant power cuts.

Power stations and energy infrastructure in Sudan have been a regular target of attacks in more than two years of fighting between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The attacks caused a major power outage and affected the city's water treatment plant, disrupting access to clean water and risking a surge in waterborne diseases such as cholera.
