Successful Election: Information Team Leader on Phase II Election

Leader of the Information Team of the State Security and Peace Commission Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun replied the media queries regarding the Phase II process of the multi-party democracy general election.

The Maj-Gen stressed the recognition of the international observers for successful holding of Phase I election, including the usage of Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine, which ensures the accuracy of voting process. He said over 100 representatives from the diplomatic missions in Myanmar observe the the Phase II process of the election.

Leader, Information Team of SSPC, Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun said " It is very satisfaction to see the voters turn out during the Phase I election. This is not the victory of the government but the victory of the people who wish for democracy and peace. In the Phase II process, the Senior General himself visited the polling stations, meeting the voters who actively participate in the voting process. We believe the Phase II will turn out as a successful one. And also the Phase III as well."

He added that the country could achieve more openness in the international relations, contributing to the achievement of more foreign investments for nation's economic progress.

Leader, Information Team of SSPC, Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun said " Regarding the international relations at present, we have sanctions because of the fact that we are not the elected government. But there are also in good relations for example our friendly countries and neighbouring countries. After the election, there will be less restrictions and we can achieve more openness in the international relations, along with more investments, creating more business opportunities for our people."

Regarding the post-election process, the Maj-Gen said Hluttaw will be convened during March, and the new government will take over the state responsibility in April.
