Success of Election Phase-2: Election Phase-2 successfully held amidst disruptions

The Government is building a multi-party democracy system and making efforts from all sides for national stability, peace, and development.

In order to implement the multi-party democracy system, it is conducting the multi-party general election which is a crucial process step by step under the leadership of the Government and with the participation of the people.

Phase-2 of the multi-party democracy general election has been successfully held. Even on January 11, 2026, when Phase-2 of the multi-party democracy general election was being held, those who want to disrupt and destroy the stability, peace, and development of the State and the election, the terrorists conducted attacks to frighten the citizens who were peacefully casting their votes.

On January 11, when Phase-2 of the multi-party democracy general election was held, with the intention of causing deaths, injuries, and fear among the voting citizens and preventing the election's success, the terrorists insurgents and destructive group carried out terrorist acts such as dropping bombs using drones in Phruso Town, Kayah State setting fire to and destroying the house of the village tract administrator in Taung-thone-lone village, Kangyi village tract, Kyunsu township, Taninthayi Region; firing fixed-wing devices, short-range rockets, drop bombs, and small arms in Gangaw, Seikphyu, Salin, and Kanma towns, Magway Region; and firing handmade short-range rockets and drop bombs in Chaung-U, Budalin, and Myinmu towns, Sagaing Region; as well as firing drop bombs in Htantabin township, Bago Region.

Consequently, two loyal civil servants were killed, and two civil servants and one innocent civilian were injured. The destructive terrorist insurgent groups, wishing that the multi-party general election process which is a path towards the multi-party democracy system desired by the people, does not succeed, that the State lacks stability and peace, and also aiming to damage the election-related processes, have been carrying out destructive acts using various methods since the pre-election period, such as: exploding and attacking with landmines, handmade mines, and drop bombs; sending threatening letters; and spreading false propaganda through treasonous exiled media outlets.

Nevertheless, the government and the people are continuing to jointly carry out the tasks of maintaining a stable and peaceful life for the people and the development of the State. Currently, Phase-1 and Phase-2 of the multi-party general election have been successfully held amidst disruptive and destructive acts.

In order to continue advancing the multi-party democracy system through gentle means, and for the successful holding of Phase-3 of the multi-party general election, conscientious citizens who support the democratic system and desire the State’s peace, stability, and the socio-economic advancement of the people are urged to cooperate with the relevant officials, and if they encounter any information about the activities of terrorists or any suspicious matters, to immediately report to the relevant officials, it’s stated.
