Student Sports Festival: Taninthayi region organizes for 2022-2023 AY

Taninthayi region U-18 basic education student sports festival for 2022-2023 academic year was opened at the Shwewei Thiri Sports ground on Monday.

At the event, Taninthayi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko said that the Region sports festival will be held with the aim for nominating the region selection to participate in the central level basic education student sports festival that will be held in Nay Pyi Taw from 18th to 27th January in 2023.

The student sports festival has been suspended for 13 years due to various reasons and it was held for the 1st time in 2011-2012 academic year and for the 2nd time in 2012-2013 academic year. The festival was held again in 2019-2020 academic year and Taninthayi region took part and won prizes.

The Chief Minister also added that the oustanding students turning out from the sports festival will be trained and the new generation athletes need to prepare to participate in the 12th ASEAN School Games that will be held in Philippine.

He called for trying hard to become selected athletes who can take pride for the region but also for the nation. The Region Chief Minister, the Chief Justice of Region Court and Ministers, departmental officials, contestants and sports enthusiasts attended the ceremony and the Taninthayi Region U-18 Basic Education Student Sports Festival will be held until 25th December.
