


129 Basic Education High Schools have been opened in seven townships of Katha District, Sagaing Region for 2020-2021 academic year on 21st July amid Covid-19 concerns
in line with the instructions of Ministry of Health and Sports and over 19,838 high school students are learning education, according to Katha District Education Department.
The Education Officer of Katha District said that they are conducting Covid-19 preventive measures in high schools of Katha Township.
District Education Officer, Katha District Education Officer Office, Kyaw San Linn said “We conduct opening the schools in shifts depending on the numbers of the students. We also keep social distancing for the students and do not allow the parents to enter the school compound. The responsible teachers screen body temperature to the students at the school entrance gate and then they wash their hands before they go to their classes.”
The students expressed their feelings on reopening the schools in line with the guidelines of MoHS for COVID-19 prevention.
Grade-10 student, No.2 B.E.H.S (Katha), Su Nyein Kyaw said “I feel delighted at reopening the schools. I feel discomfort from wearing face shield but I follow the guidelines of the Ministry to fight against Covid-19 disease. All students follow the health instructions. So, we can study the lessons with good health and happiness.”
Grade-10 student, No.2 B.E.H.S (Katha), Lajar said “I am happy attending the school but I’m not ok in studying with wearing mask. We can prevent from the disease by following the instructions of MoHS. I want to tell “Prevention is better than cure”.
Officials from relevant township departments are checking the opening high schools in Katha Township whether they follow the health instructions issued by the MoHS or not, it is learnt.
