Strong Wind: Many houses damaged in Magwe and Mandalay Region

Strong wind hit some parts of Magwe and Mandalay Regions in the early morning of Saturday.

In Salin Township of Magwe Region, 638 houses from 9 wards and 94 villages have been destroyed by strong wind on Saturday. The strong wind also destroyed 5 school buildings, 3 monasteries, one prayer hall, 9 lamp posts, 2 pagodas, 2 departmental office buildings, 2 staff housings and one water tank. 

In Natmauk Township, 296 houses from 7 wards and 20 villages were damaged by a strong wind. At Aungmyaythazan Township in Mandalay Region, strong wind destroyed 4 houses, 24 lamp posts, 2 school buildings, 2 pagodas and 6 vehicles. 

In Taung Pyone Gyi Village of Madaya Township, 3 houses were damaged by a strong wind while 9 houses in Hsuukar Village, 16 houses in Udaung Village, 1 school building in Thapyaytha Village and 25 houses in Paukwe Village. 

In Patheingyi Township, 6 lamp posts and one pagoda were destroyed, and 7 houses have been damaged in Pauktapin Village of Thapeikkyin Township.

Tatmadawmen from local battalions, members of Myanmar Police Force, Fire Brigade and departmental staff rushed to the affected areas for relief and rescue measures. Foodstuffs and construction materials were also provided to the victims.
