Strong quake in Solomon Islands; Albanese comments

A powerful magnitude 7.0 earthquake jolted the Solomon Islands Tuesday afternoon.

There were no immediate reports of widespread damage or injuries, although Australia's prime minister said a roof at its High Commission had collapsed.

Anthony Albanese said all the staff of Australia's High Commission were safe.An initial tsunami warning was withdrawn after the threat passed.The quake's epicenter was in the ocean about 56 kilometers southwest of Honiara at a depth of 13 kilometers, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
