Steering Committee meeting: VSG addressed the Steering Committee meeting

Chairman of the Steering Committee for Illegal Trade Eradication Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win delivered a remark at the committee meeting 1/2024 held at the Ministry of Commerce in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday.

First, the SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Prime Minister mentioned that the Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister at the meeting 1/2024 of the Security, Peace and Stability and Rule of Law Committee with regard to illegal trade, pointed out that some acts are beyond the law, and businesspersons focus on their self-interests. It needs to consider trade as well as security measures. Illegal trade can flow money to armed terrorists for harming security. So, it is necessary to expose and act against unlawful trade effectively.

The Steering committee Chairman also mentioned the descriptions of the Transnational Alliance to Combat- Illicit Trade-TRACIT regarding the illegal trade, expansion of illicit trades, direct and indirect affects and he urged to make collective effort for the Anti-illegal trade measures as a national duty.

The committee Chairman also called for to carry out installation of new X-Ray machine, systematic inspection on domestic railway, inland water transportation and coastal water transportation and air cargo transportation.

Next, the secretary of the Steering Committee Deputy Minister for Commerce U Min Min clarified the completion of the tasks on the decisions at the meeting (6/2023 and the work implementations of the Steering Committee.

Then, the leader of Steering Committee Office, Directors General of the departments read out the order papers submitted to the meeting (1/2024) of the Steering Committee for Illegal Trade Eradication.

Next, the Vice-Chairmen of the Steering Committee Union Ministers Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, U Win Shein and Steering Committee member Union Minister U Tun Ohn reported on reviews on illegal trade measures, m seizures of narcotic drugs, prohibited precursor chemicals, vehicles, foodstuffs, drugs and cosmetics, implementation of the e-lock syste, illegal sales of goods online, and others.

Then, the attendees discussed related sectors and the leader of Steering Committee Office read out the draft of decisions at Steering Committee meeting (1/2024).

After that, the Chairman of the Steering Committee for Illegal Trade Eradication coordinated regarding with the discussions and gave a speech of conclusion.
