




The Steering Committee for organizing the fifth National Sports Festival held its meeting at the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.
Patron of the Steering Committee, Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council, Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win discussed how sports are regarded as a hallmark of a civil society. He highlighted that sports foster friendly relations within society and serve as a pleasant activity for physical fitness. Additionally, sports symbolize peace diplomacy and embody the worldly principles of freedom, fairness, and friendship.
The Vice Senior General stressed the importance of nurturing outstanding athletes through the upcoming National Sports Festival, who could bring prestige to the nation in international sports competitions. He emphasized the need for systematic measures in athlete selection, including age limitations and restrictions on performance-enhancing drugs. He also called for the cooperation of all concerned personnel to ensure the success of the upcoming festival, upholding the nationalistic fervor.
The attendees reported on the implementation of decisions from the previous meeting, the setup of sports events, award plans, grand opening and closing ceremonies, and other necessary preparations.
