




Chairman of Urea Fertilizer Purchasing and Distribution Steering Committee, Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe attended a coordination meeting of the Committee held at the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on January 2nd.
In his opening speech, Union Minister U Hla Moe, mentioned that the meeting was convened to discuss the scheduled price guidelines for January 2025 and to review the plans for the remaining three months of the current fiscal year.
He explained that during the 2024-2025 fiscal year, the committee had supported the import of fertilizers and pesticides according to the set targets, with a total of over 1.403 million tons of fertilizer and over 26,000 tons of pesticides being imported from April to December 2024.
He also stated that the remaining amounts of fertilizers and pesticides to be imported in the current fiscal year would continue to be verified and supported.
Additionally, the committee would review the strengths and weaknesses of actions taken during this fiscal year, and plan improvements for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, making sure to present these plans to the Steering Committee on time.
Following this, the Secretary of the Steering Committee, Permanent Secretary U Khant Zaw, and representatives from Myanmar Fertilizer, Seed and Pesticide Entrepreneurs Association presented the actions taken in line with previous meeting decisions.
They also confirmed the quantities of fertilizers and pesticides to be imported by company for October, November, and December, as well as discussed the international market price conditions, fertilizer prices, and the situation regarding purchasing and distributing the products.
Subsequently, the Steering Committee member Deputy Ministers conducted supplemented discussion and the committee members representatives from departments and the Central Bank of Myanmar, as well as the Myanmar Rice Federation, discussed and presented their views.
The Union Minister listened to the additional input from committee members and concluded the meeting with a closing speech.
After that, the Union Minister, accompanied by the officials, visited the Shwe War Tun Agricultural and General Cooperative Society in the Ahle Kyun Village, Tatkone Township, Nay Pyi Taw, and observed the RAKA 666 cotton cultivation (2 acres) of farmer U Zaw Ye Aung.
The Union Minister continued by meeting with the cooperative members, farmers, executive officials, and departmental officials. He instructed the responsible persons to address the needs of the farmers and worked collaboratively to resolve any concerns raised by the cooperative members.
