The Myanmar Press Council issued a statement (1/2026) on January 13, 2026.
The statement described that the Myanmar delegation led by the Union Minister for the Ministry (2) of the President's Office of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, U Ko Ko Hlaing and Union Minister for the Ministry of Legal Affairs and Union Attorney General Dr. Thida Oo, are exerting their utmost efforts for justice and truth for Myanmar at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, Netherlands. The ICJ case is not a simple matter for Myanmar; it is a national issue concerning the dignity, sovereignty, and national interests of the State. Myanmar is being unfairly accused based on groundless allegations and misinformation that mislead international opinion regarding a crime it did not commit. We believe the honorable judges of the ICJ will uphold the noble ethics and dignity of the judiciary and, free from bias, assess and decide based on truth and justice. Since this matter pertains to Myanmar's dignity, Myanmar's sovereignty, and Myanmar's interests, it is an issue for the entire Myanmar nation. We hereby issue this statement of our position, declaring our solidarity with the Myanmar delegation who are confronting and resolving this for Myanmar's truth and justice.
