State High Schools of Arts: Enrolment accepted until last week of May

In 2022-2023 academic year, the department of Fine Arts under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture has started accepting fresher students who have passed Grade-8 for the Performing, Painting and Sculpture courses in Yangon and Mandalay art high schools.

These courses related with arts together with literature will be conducted for 3 years. The government will provide 30, 000 Kyats per month of stipends for a student and take responsibility for accommodation of the students.

Assistant Director, State High School of Arts (Yangon), Zin Mar Win said "There’re 2 art high schools; each one in Yangon and Mandalay. For those who come to join these courses from various regions, preparations are being made to provide dormitories for the convenient living. According to the curriculum, the trainees have to attend the courses for 10 months per year and the government will provide 30,000K of stipends per month for each student. So, we want to welcome new students and would like to invite them, also."

As Myanmar traditional culture is a worth preserving history that will not disappear, those who interested in arts can join these courses, preserving the cultural heritage.

50 fresher trainees per school are allowed to attend in art high schools Yangon and Mandalay. In the course, those who study high school subjects and arts together will have the chance of simultaneous learning with basic education lessons and the art subjects.

Principal, Department of Painting & Sculpture, Win Tin said "Painting can only be learnt with having enough time to practice. Artwork can’t be perfect with less practice time. There’re 2 options in painting and sculpture; those who want to continue their learning of high school subjects are allowed to learn and for those who want to study the painting and sculpture exclusively can learn in its original form. "

Principal, Department of performing arts, Yin Yin Myint said "In terms of arts, there are 8 subjects: Saing Waing (Traditional orchestra), xylophone, piano, harp, violin, traditional men and women dance. These 8 subjects have been conducting with the assistance of teaching aids provided by the government. "

For those who interested these courses can submit the applications until the last week of May 2023 and the schools will be opened in the coming 1st June, 2023.
