Sri Lankan weather situation

Seven persons are reported missing due to floods in the Ampara District as a result of the inclement weather conditions experienced in Sri Lanka. Government authorities said that the missing persons were the passengers of a tractor and at the time of the incident, the tractor had been transporting 11 schoolchildren.

Soon after the incident, five children were rescued, while six children, the driver and his assistant were reported missing. The Disaster Management Centre reported that over 207,000 persons have been severely affected due to adverse weather.  According to the Irrigation Department, minor flood warnings are in effect for the next 48 hours.
