Spreading Disinformation: False News regarding casualties in Bamaw, Kachin State

Fake news circulating on social media alleges that five individuals from Mongkar, Moe Sein, Sintkin, and Kanni Villages in Bamaw died due to heavy weapon attacks by security forces.

The misinformation claims that these attacks were in retaliation for assaults on security posts by KIA and PDF terrorists along the Myitkyina-Bamaw Road in Kachin State. However, a local resident has refuted these claims, stating that the deaths were actually caused by heavy weapon explosions launched by the terrorists during their attack on security posts in Bamaw.

Social media pages posing as media outlets are disseminating policies of insurgent groups and spreading fake news, with the aim of instigating hatred and misunderstanding towards the security forces among the people.
