Spread of Misinformation: Clarifying the events near Namtkham in Shan State

There has been a recent spread of misleading information on social media, alleging that the Tatmadaw launched attacks on Namtkham in Shan State (North) on November 21st, leading to numerous casualties among residents.

However, the actual incident involves a Tatmadaw security operation near Namtkham, with a fire exchange occurring in the evening of November 21st. During the course of the incident, terrorists indiscriminately attacked using heavy weapons, resulting in explosions within the town.

The military columns were not targeting the town or village areas. Biased media outlets have disseminated fake and false news, aiming to sow discord between the Tatmadaw and the people. It is evident that these sources are intent on undermining the collaborative efforts of the Tatmadaw and the public in combatting terrorist acts.
