Sports Sector: 2023 State/Region Lethwei Tournament

The 2023 States and Regions Lethwei (traditional boxing) tournament kicked off at the Wunna Theikdhi stadium in Nay Pyi Taw on 4th October. The tournament was designed to produce outstanding new athletes and build friendship among athletes from various regions and states.

Kyaw Oo, Director General, Sports& Physical Education Dept., said " This tournament is to produce new athletes who have hidden talent and can support the Myanmar National team and to build friendship among athletes from regions and states."

The States and Regions Lethwei (traditional boxing) tournament is an annual sport event organized by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs together with the Myanmar Lethwei Federation.

Ko Ko Aung, Chairman, Myanmar Lethwei Federation, said " For this tournament, we, firstly, held competitions in regions and states. Skillful athletes were selected for the ongoing competition. Those who grab wins in the tournament will be trained and nurtured to become national representatives. So, the Regions and States Lethwei Tournament is very important."

The 2023 States and Regions Lethwei (traditional boxing) tournament is set to take place till the 11thof October.
