





The competitions for the various sports in the 5th National Sports Festival 2024 commenced at their respective venues and facilities on 2nd December.
Key events included Inter-Ministerial Open Class Football Matches (Men’s) held at the People’s Paunglaung Sports Ground in Pyinmana Township. Regions and States U-21 Men’s Football Matches at Training Grounds No. 3 and No. 4, Regions and States U-25 Women’s Football Matches at Bawgawadi Sports Ground in Lewe Township, Regions and States Sepaktakraw (Men’s/Women) competitions at the Wunna Theikdi Sepaktakraw Court, Regions and States Volleyball (Men’s/Women) matches at Wunna Theikdi Sports Stadium (B).
The Inter-Ministerial Open Class Football Tournament for men began at the People’s Paunglaung Sports Ground in Pyinmana Township in the afternoon, featuring a match between the Ministry of Information team and the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs team.
The event was attended by Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Deputy Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Htein Lin, officials and sports enthusiasts. As the opening match of the tournament, the teams competed intensely, with the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs securing a 2-1 victory over the Ministry of Information team. Following the match, Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn cordially greeted the team officials, coaches, and players of the teams and provided cash assistance.
In the evening, Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn, Deputy Minister Daw Nu Mra Zan, and officials visited the Wunna Theikdi Football Stadium to observe preparations for the opening and closing ceremonies of the festival.
They watched rehearsals, including a dance performance depicting six historical eras by students from the National University of Arts and Culture, as well as entertainment routines by organizations such as the Myanmar Comedians Association and the Myanmar Theatrical Association. They also inspected technical arrangements, including the lighting system, LED displays, sound systems, and stage lighting tests.
