







Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs 2023 releasing fingerlings and monsoon tree planting ceremony and the 2nd Anniversary of the Ministry celebration were held at the WunnaTheikdi Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on 20th July.
During ceremony of releasing fingerlings, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, U Min Thein Zan and wife, Deputy Ministers and wives and concerned officials released a total of 15,000 Hamilton Carp fingerlings into pond No.1 in Wunnatheikdi Stadium. Then, the monsoon tree planting ceremony was continued and the Union Minister, Deputy Ministers and officials planted a total of 1,300 Sein Ta Lone mango saplings at the designated places.
Then, the Union Minister gave opening speech at the ceremony of celebrating 2nd Anniversary of the Ministry at Wunnatheikdi Stadium (B) saying that Ministry of Sports was established on 18th December 1996 and it was reformed as the Ministry of Health and Sports in May 2016. Since 1st August 2021, it was reorganized as the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and now it has been two years.
The Ministry is implementing the development of the health of the whole nation and improving the sport sector to meet the international standards and accelerating the emergence of the new generation athletes by collaborating the Myanmar Sport Federations. Implementations are underway to establish Sports and Physical Education Institutes in Sittwe and Hakha Townships plus to the existing 6 institutes and everyone is encouraged to participate in development process of the Ministry.
Then, the Union Minister and wife, Deputy Ministers and wives presented medals, cash awards and certificates of honor to gold, silver and bronze medal winners of 32nd SEA Games, 12th ASEAN Para Games, outstanding students who passed 2022-23 matriculation examinations with distinctions and outstanding civil servants. They also provided cash assistance to the offspring of the service personnel.
Then, an outstanding student expressed words of gratitude and the ceremony was concluded after taking documentary photo. Then, the Union Minister received the delegation led by Indian Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Vinay Kumur at the Ministry for the development of the Myanmar Sport sector and Youth Affairs.
At the call, they cordially exchanged views on bilateral cooperation in sport sectors, sending Indian coaches to Myanmar to conduct trainings, sending Myanmar athletes to India for the trainings and implementations for the comprehensive development of the youths. They also discussed expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation and promotion of existing friendly bilateral relations and exchanged memorial gifts.
