In commemoration of the 71st Anniversary Independence Day, Inter-school sports competitions, fun activities and bazaar are being held at No.2 football pitch of Zabuthiri Township in Nay Pyi Taw since Tuesday.
Every year, sports competitions are held nationwide to commemorate the Independence Day of the country.
The competitions and activities are held with the aims to raise students’ awareness on Independence Day and the values of it and to improve teamwork among youths.
Member, Leading Committee, Naing Win Than said “Myanmar gained its independence on the 4th of January in 1948. This year marks the 71st anniversary and citizens have the duty to inherit and preserve the values of the Independence Day. This is held in line with the 5 objectives. Events like this are being held across the country at the same time. I’m very proud that the residents of Zabuthiri Township were able to organize this event successfully. I’m fully motivated and the public is filled with joy.”
Aside from sports competitions, this year celebration is more special with newly added entertainment programs and bazaar.
This is the third edition and the first time was in 2017 at the same location.
Middle School Teacher, No. 14, Basic Education High School, Zabuthiri, Ye Ye Cho said “Sports competitions are held at the schools every year from time to time not only on Independence day. However, the competitions that are held in celebration of the Independence Day are so special with the purpose to bring out patriotic spirit of students and to inform them about how the Independence Day evolved and why.”
The sports competitions and activities will be held at No.2 football pitch of Shwe Kyar Pin Quarter of Zabuthiri Township in Nay Pyi Taw until the 4th of January.
