Sports activities: MoNREC UM attended the sports activities of ministry

Forest Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation organized 2024 Men/Women’s Tug of War, Women’s Htoat Hsi Toe , Men’s Sepak Takraw and Table Tennis competitions starting from 12th December 2023 to 2nd January 2024 at the Forest Department.

On the 2nd of January, the match for third place and final match of Tug of War (Men) took place with the presence of the Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi, Deputy Minister and officials concerned. And, presenting award ceremony was followed at Ingyin Hall. During the ceremony, the Union Minister said that as pre-Independence Day and December sport activities, sports competitions and lucky draw programmes are held annually in New Year eve for the staff.

Likewise, excellence awards were presented to those who actively participated in pivotal role of establishing forest plantation for stability of natural environment and ecosystem and natural disaster reducing and to those who put efforts in seizing illegal timbers.

He also added that the Forest Department implemented total of 16,071 forest plantation acres during the raining season in 2023 and seized over 10,000 tonnes of illegal timbers by collaborating with related organizations. And, he urged all the staff to try their best for the Ministry and country. Then, the Union Minister, Deputy Minister, Permanent Secretary and departmental officials presented awards to the winners.
