To encourage the public to do walking exercises which has lots of health benefit for all ages, mass walking was held with the participation by Mon State Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein on Saturday morning in Mawlamyine.
It’s reported that over 1,300 persons including trainees from the Education Degree College, Nursing and Midwifery Training School and Sports and Physical Education Institute (Mawlamyine), students from basic education schools and sport enthusiasts participated in the mass walking along Strand Road to Yarmanya Sports ground.
Then, a ceremony to honor the Mon State Sepak Takraw team who won prizes in the 2023 State/Region Sepak Takraw Competition was held at the meeting hall of Yarmanya Sports ground.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister highlighted the exerted efforts of the sub committees, officials and relevant organizations which provided the needs of the athletes and concerted efforts of the athletes who tried their best to achieve the best outcomes. He also urged the officials to continue nurture the youths to become excellent athletes who can raise the prestige of the nation.
Then, the Chief Minister and officials presented honorary cash awards to the 1st prize, 2nd prize and 3rd prize winners of the different Sepak Takraw competitions respectively.
