Special Weather Statement: Tropical Depression intensified into TS “SOULIK”

According to the observations at (09:30) AM Myanmar Standard Time on 19th September, the tropical depression over South China Sea has moved Westwards and further intensified into a Tropical Storm “SOULIK”.

It is likely to move West-Southwestwards and may cross to the Central coast of Vietnam at today evening. The remanent clouds and wind wave from the tropical storm start cross over Southeastern parts of Myanmar and then continue to move West-Southwestwards and it may re-initiate into a Low Pressure Area over the Andaman sea and Bay of Bengal on 20th September, 2024.

Due to the wave propagation speed, rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States with likelihood of regionally and isolated heavy falls and strong wind during 20th to 25th September.

 People should be awared the heavy rainfall with strong wind, the natural disasters such as flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near small rivers and inland water transport and domestic flight.
