Spanish farmers hit by fertilizer shortage

The global economy is still enduring the consequences due to the pandemic and other global issues, along with increased inflation and economic uncertainty. In Spain, a farmer in the village of Anchuelo who runs approximately 70 hectares of non-irrigated arable land, said fertilizer is vital for the success of his crops.

The fertilizer he uses is ammonium-nitrate, and it now costs between 800 to 1000 euros which previously cost 400 euros approximately a ton.To tackle the issue in some extent, the government is spending $320 million to help farmers acquire fertilizer.
