Spanish agriculture Minister meets with farmers' representatives

Spain’s Agriculture Minister on Thursday met with representatives of farmers’ associations to discuss the sector's troubles in Madrid.

During the meeting, he asked the European Union to simplify its common agricultural policy, known as the CAP, and would petition both the EU and World Trade Organization to ensure mirror clauses which ensure that imported products respect EU agricultural rules that are imposed on pesticides and plant protection products. Around 250 farmers and agricultural union representatives attended the meeting.
