Spain women's national football team celebrates World Cup victory with fans in Madrid

Thousands of fans cheered for the Spain women's national football team as they celebrated their 2023 World Cup victory at home in Madrid. Spain won the Women's World Cup for the first time in their history with skipper Olga Carmona striking in the first half for a deserved 1-0 victory over England in Sunday's final.

Olga Carmona paid tribute to her father for giving her the strength "to achieve something unique" after learning of his death following the nation's win over England. Spain are the fifth team to lift the World Cup since the tournament began in 1991, joining outgoing champions the United States, Germany, Norway and Japan.
