Spanish rescue teams concluded Sunday the recovery operation of the victims of the bus that drove off a bridge into a river, leaving six passengers dead and two survivors, one of them the driver, according to the local authorities.

The blue roof of the half-sunk vehicle could still be seen on Sunday in the Lérezriver next to the 30 meters high pillars of the bridge, a striking image that illustrates the significant fall that happened hours earlier, on the night hours of Christmas Eve.

The two survivors were rescued on the night of the accident and taken to hospitals. The rest of the passengers’ bodies have been retrieved on Sunday. The bad weather conditions have been pointed out as a possible cause of the accident, according to a statement by regional president Alfonso Rueda.
