South Korea's ruling party leader calls for Yoon to be impeached

The leader of South Korea's ruling People's Power Party said on Thursday that President Yoon Suk Yeol should be impeached, adding that he is no longer able to fulfil his duties as leader.

He made the comments after Yoon on Thursday vowed to fight until the very last minute, as he defiantly defended his shock decision to declare martial law and deploy troops to the country's parliament last week.

 He also said that the impeachment process should be used to remove and to suspend the performance of duty of the president.

Currently, Yoon is barred from foreign travel as part of a probe into his inner circle over the dramatic events of December 3 to 4.
