South Korean President Lee visits data center fire site

President Lee Jae Myung visited the National Information Resources Service headquarters on Friday, where restoration work is underway after a major fire at the national data center disrupted online services across the country.

The president emphasized that the importance of national computing resources is comparable to national defense, and also added that swift recovery and solid measures to prevent recurrence are crucial to ensure such incidents never happen again. Meanwhile, of the 709 government administration systems affected by the data center fire, 217 have been restored so far, raising the recovery rate to 30.6%.
