Soft-Shell Crabs Breeding: Exports volume reached over $4.9 million in 2022-2023 FY

Myanmar soft-shell crabs are mainly exported to China and more than 500 tonswhich worth over 4.9 million USD have been exported during the current period of 2022-2023 financial years. Currently, about 5 companies of soft-shell crabs breeding have been operating at more than 270 acres in Taninthayi Region.

Aung Nyi Toe, Division Head, Department of Fisheries (Taninthayi District), said " Myanmar has been exported about 554 tons of soft-shell crabs and received more than 4.9 million USD in 2022-2023 fiscal years. Myanmar mainly exported soft-shell crabs from Taninthayi Region to the China market with set prices.  At present, our department is carrying out to promote the soft-shell crabs breeding in Taninthayi Region."

Over 600 tons of Myanmar soft-shell crabs are mainly exported to foreign markets every year. The soft-shell crabs breeding businesses are mostly operated in Rakhine State, Ayeyawady and Taninthayi Regions.
