A new school building was inaugurated at the Mandalay Child Care Center under the Social Welfare Department on Wednesday. The new facility was formally opened by Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win, along with Chief Minister of Mandalay Region U Myo Aung and officials.

After unveiling the commemorative stone inscription, the Union Minister and party toured the new facility. They also emphasized the importance of long-term maintenance and provided commemorative gifts for the children. At Hotel Mandalay, the Union Minister held a meeting with senior citizens and delivered a speech in which he highlighted the Ministry's commitment to social protection through the implementation of eight action plans.

Efforts are being made to care for elderly individuals and enhance their quality of life through hostel-based care, community-based care, the opening of day care centers, and caregiver training. Furthermore, the Ministry has granted permissions for privately operated Homes for the Aged and continues to provide assistance in this regard.

The meeting aimed to address the needs and voices of senior citizens, promote their active participation in society, show respect for the elderly, and outline future plans. Following this, the Union Minister and party visited the School for the Deaf in Mandalay, where they observed students engaged in lessons and vocational training.

They also witnessed sign language training, hearing tests, and speech training. Additionally, they conducted an inspection of the Relief Items Warehouse operated by the Disaster Management Department.
