Social Welfare: Essay competition and cash donation

The High-school level essay competition commemorating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities was held at the Basic Education High School No. (11) of Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday, under the theme “United in action to rescue and achieve the SDGs for, with and by persons with disabilities".

It was attended by the Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win, Deputy Minister and Directors-General. A total of 63 students from Basic Education High Schools in Nay Pyi Taw participated in the essay competition and the prizes will be awarded to the winners at a national-level ceremony marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3rd in Nay Pyi Taw.

And, the Union Minister and party paid a visit to the GayuNar home for the aged where the officer in charge gave a detailed explanation of the systematic acceptance and care of 179 elderly people. The officer in charge received the cash donation provided by the Union Minister and returned the certificate of honor.

Then, the Union Minister and party met with the 12 elders receiving medical treatment and made a cash donation. The Union Minister and party proceeded to AungPanMyaing Youth Development Charity Home accommodating a total of 51 people, opened in Saddhamma Veponla Pariyatti Monastery of Dekkhinathiri Township and provided cash and stationery for the students.

After listening to the sermon preached by the Residing Sayadaw, the Union Minister and party oversaw the students’ dormitories and canteen. It’s reported that the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement has donated over 28 million kyats to the GayuNar home for the aged and over 24 million kyats to AungPanMyaing Youth Development Charity Home in 2023-2024 fiscal year.
