Social welfare assistance: MoSWRR Union Minister provided social assistances

The Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win together with the Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin and official attended the occasion providing cash assistance for the expectant mothers, children, elders and philanthropic organizations held at the Sasana Beikman in the compound of Lokananda pagoda in Sittwe Township in the morning on 26th September.

At the occasion, the Union Minister explained the program of providing cash assistance for the expectant mothers, children under two years old and the program of providing social pension for the elders, status of drawing Social Management Information System to carry out the programs through the digital Platform and the program providing cash assistance for the philanthropic homes and training schools.

Then, the Union Minister provided 2.897 billion Kyats for the 68328 beneficiaries under the program of providing expectant mothers and children under-2, 428.67 million Kyats social pension for 14289 elders and 46.815 million Kyats for three philanthropic organizations which have been granted for establishment.

And the Union Minister provided cash assistance to the elders, expectant mothers and children who are attended the occasion. Next, the Union Minister and Chief Minister attended the opening ceremony of 24th Rakhine State level performing arts competition held at the convocation hall of Sittwe University and the Chief Minister U Htein Lin gave an opening speech.

Afterward, the Union Minister Dr. Soe Win, Chief Minister U Htein Lin, state minister for security and border affairs Col. Kyaw Thura opened the competition by cutting the ceremonial ribbon. And the Union Minister provided cash assistance to the performers and cordially greeted the attendees.

Later, the Union Minister and Chief Minister cheered the U-25 Inter-District men and women Volleyball competition. In the afternoon, they proceeded to the Rakhine State Home for the Aged (Sittwe), heard the reports of the responsible persons, gave necessary instructions, cordially greeted the elders and provided cash and food supplements.

Then, they visited Otthalin monastery in Mingan ward of Sittwe Township where the displaced women are being provided with vocational sewing training, viewed the training, provided instant noodle packs and soap bars to them and the offertories were offered to the presiding Sayadaw.

Next, they visited Bawdupa IDP camp and Thetkal Pyin IDP camps, met with the IDPs, coordinated requirements upon their reports, provided cash assistance to the expectant mothers and children under-2 and instant noodle sacks and soap bars to the IDPs. Afterward, the Union Minister and Chief Minister viewed the relief items unloaded from the MV Charity vessel at Sittwe multipurpose port.
