





Typhoon Yagi's intensity caused heavy rains and flooding in several regions and states, including Nay Pyi Taw, leading to factory closures, office shutdowns, and damage to farmlands. In response, a ceremony to provide 40% social security benefit for flood-affected insured workers was held in Taungoo Township, Bago Region on Tuesday.
Union Minister for Labor U Myint Naung attended the ceremony and emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the public during social hardships. He highlighted that 34,927 agencies and 1.27 million workers are registered across 80 Township Social Security Offices.
In Bago Region, 2,669 agencies and 77,710 workers are registered for 2024-2025 fiscal year. During the ceremony, 39.13 million kyats in benefits were distributed to 519 flood-affected insured workers from 56 agencies.
The funds were formally handed over to the Region Minister for Social Affairs, who subsequently expressed words of thanks for the approval of the 40% social security benefit, acknowledging its vital support to the affected workers.
Following the ceremony, the Union Minister and officials visited the departments and offices under the Ministry of Labor. The Union Minister instructed all departmental staff to adhere to the Civil Service rules and regulations and to effectively carry out their duties, during the visit.
