Social Protection: Union Minister attends Working Committee Meeting

The Working Committee on Social Protection held its work coordination meeting at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement on Friday with an address by Chairperson of the Working Committee, Union Minister Dr Thet Thet Khine.

At the meeting, the Union Minister said that the social protection works are the essential task for reducing poverty and human resource development that plays a key role for the state development.

In implementing the social protection works, the Society for Management Information Systems (SMIS) is being developed to effectively carry out the tasks. If this system is completed, it needs to use effectively and to maintain for long-term.

The Union Minister added that the digital payment method applying will be implemented step by step for the beneficiaries by using a digital platform from the manual system that is currently used.

It has a plan to appropriately increase the cost for the social protection programs within the budget ceiling set by the Ministry.

Later, the Vice Chairman-1 of the Working Committee, Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement U Aung Htun Khine discussed ongoing process of social protect program.

Officials also reported progress of works on the decisions of previous meeting and future programs.
