Social Protection: SAC Vice Chairman addresses Committee’s meeting

Chairman of the National Committee on Social Protection Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council [SAC] Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win addressed the Committee’s meeting 1/2022 on Wednesday afternoon.

In his address, the Vice Senior General said that during and after the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic, the importance of social protection activities has become more aware. The activities must be carried out to reduce socio-economic vulnerability, to facilitate human capital development and to support basic income.

It’s necessary to finalize and enact the Myanmar Social Protection Support Law. Social Management Information System (SMIS) is being developed and will be tested early next year. When the "social management information system" is built, in order to use the system effectively and sustainably, all must continue to work together according to the relevant sectors. It is very important to carry out monitoring and evaluation, the Vice Senior General added.

And, Vice Chairperson of the Committee Union Minister Dr. Thet Thet Khaing explained the ongoing social protection activities. Also, Secretary of the Committee explained implementation of the decisions made in the previous meeting and plans.

Union ministers and attendees made clarification of the ongoing activities related to social protection and read and submitted the draft resolutions of the meeting for approval. This meeting concluded with the Vice Senior General coordinating the explanations, plans and resolutions.
